Winter is well and truly here and its getting harder and harder to stick to those big picture goals.
I have to admit that on more than a couple of occasions this month, I have turned off the alarm and slept through my scheduled run.
When you make the decision to stay in bed rather than to get up and get going, you start a pattern that may take you further and further away from your big picture goals.
The last time I chose to miss a scheduled exercise session by staying in bed, I decided that there would have to be a consequence .
I decided that the consequence would be scheduling exercise later on that evening even though I hate doing exercise late in the day.
The next time the alarm went off at 5am I made sure I got up, no matter how much I wanted to stay in my warm bed.
Many people start the year with a goal in mind, but they lose focus, get distracted and make excuses when conditions become harder.
I was interviewed by Dennis Walter on 3AW a couple of weeks ago to discuss this very issue.
For those of you who missed it, here’s the interview.
Did you have plans, aspirations and goals at the beginning of the year that you were successful with?
Your triumphs and challenges can help others, I would love to hear your thoughts.
