Will you always be fat no matter what you do?
Do you tell yourself that no matter what you do….??
“I will ALWAYS be fat”
Is that the way it has always been? Were you the fat kid?
Do you tell yourself….??
“Other people seem to be able to take control and make changes but I can’t”
What stories do we tell ourselves over and over again?
When we tell ourselves these stories repeatedly we will eventually believe them and they will become a part of our inner reality. At one stage in our lives we believed in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus…….I’m here to say that we can change our beliefs just as we did when we when we realised that these characters were a fiction and part of a story told to us by our parents and others.
In all the workshops and personal sessions I have held for my clients, most people find it very difficult to identify their limiting beliefs because they believe them to be TRUE.
As recently as 2 weeks ago, I had a limiting belief of my own that I believed to be true….I believed that “…only rich people went to Paris for a holiday”. You may or may not think that this is actually true….I certainly did.
This belief limited me because the ONE place I desperately wanted to experience was Paris and the ONE place I could not experience was PARIS as a result of this belief!! I have travelled overseas on a few occasions and even to Europe in the past but Paris was off the list. CRAZY isn’t it!
The bizarre aspect of this belief is, if I had actually stopped to think about it objectively, I would have realised that this simply cannot be TRUE!! There are plenty of average Australians that go to Paris every year….400,000 in fact. What may have been obvious to 400,000 others was not so clear to me because I had believed it for my whole life!
I held onto this belief with all my might for all of these years until, ONE DAY…. I asked a different question…
“IS IT REALLY TRUE that I need to be rich to go to Paris?” and the answer was a resounding…
“NO!!!”
DONE DEAL!
On the same day that I shifted this mindset (and after a little consultation with my long suffering husband who believed it was possible for ‘mere mortals’ to go to Paris), I contacted our travel agent, negotiated a great rate and am proud to say that we will be there in September.
Everything changes in a moment! I am not suggesting you drop everything & run to Paris (maybe I am).
So what’s my point?
WHAT IS THE LIMITING BELIEF THAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK FROM ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS?
WHATS THE STORY YOU ARE TELLING YOURSELF and then actually BELIEVING???
ASK YOURSELF:
- Is this REALLY true?
- Do I have all the facts in front of me right now to show me that this is really true?
- What would life be like if was really true?
- What could life be like if it wasn’t?
- What are the possibilities?
