I had just turned 40 years old and I was well and truly over it. I was over the politics at work, I was over peak hour traffic and I was over the seemingly insignificant contribution I was making to the world as a Senior Project Manager. The prospect of another 20 years of this made my head explode with thoughts of how I was going to survive. The fantasy of retiring to a tropical island was just not going to happen…my mortgage wasn’t letting me go anywhere.
At the time I was working for a Melbourne based Consultancy firm and Friday morning coffee was a ritual that could not be missed. One seemingly inauspicious Friday, my colleagues were talking about a book launch they went to on the previous evening. The author was an ex-employee, Kasey Edwards. I was instantly fascinated by the title of Kasey’s book, which is Thirty Something & Over It.
I was Forty something and well and truly over it, I knew that I HAD to read it.
30 Something And Over It
This book touched my life in many ways and changed my life’s direction. In her book Kasey embarks on a quest to rediscover passion and purpose in her life and work. It is a journey of self-discovery and all about ‘finding your baby’ (a metaphorical baby…finding your authentic passion and nurturing it). The book is written with a powerful sense of honesty. Kasey’s “baby” was to become a published author…Kasey had done it…I could too. From the moment I finished the book, I was on a mission to find my purpose.
Where was MY baby?
I started to take notice of the parts of my day where I felt real joy and excitement. I found that those moments were usually in the tea room encouraging colleagues to move towards their goals. I had fought so many of my fears, emotionally and physically and I loved helping people believe in themselves.
My baby was conceived. I knew I had to help people break through their fears and allow them to do what they never thought to be possible.
My mission was set, like a woman possessed I undertook training, formal education, attended seminars and many courses.
Hypnofit entered the world kicking and screaming!
I love my Baby!
A couple of weeks ago, my eye was attracted to an interesting newspaper article and noticed the author was none other than Kasey Edwards, the person that had made such a massive impact on my life a number of years ago. I immediately contacted Kasey via email and told her how she changed my life. I was truly euphoric when she replied. It was at that point that I realised how far I had come.
It was such a wonderful feeling to know that I had changed my life and am now following my passion.
It was truly fulfilling to know that I had been able thank Kasey for being an inspiration to me.
